Fishing | About three miles of the River Avon are included within the Estate running approximately from North End to Dudmore.
Salmon fishing is available by way of rods let for the season (1 February to 31 July). Although catches are low compared to the past, the Lower Avon retains its reputation for producing very large spring fish. The Estate operates a catch and release policy. The Estate is party to a voluntary agreement with the Environment Agency pursuant to which all fishing for salmon will cease when the water temperature equal to or exceeding 19C is reached. In periods of warm weather please check the temperature at Knapp Mill – details are on the website at https://telemetry-data.com/open?profile=AVONTEMP. If you are interested in renting a rod for the 2025/26 season, please contact us.
The River Avon is almost famous for the quality of its coarse fishing and was let for many years to the Christchurch Angling Club. The coarse fishing is now in hand and details will be published of availability. |
